I started my career in the news business free-lancing for the UPI and AP photo bureaus. Covering Sports and Breaking news, also at that time I did stringer work for the Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune.
In 1978 Chicago Daily Defender hired me as their principal photographer. I covered all news and sports for the newspaper as well a being photo editor When Rep. Harold Washington announced June 1982 he was running for Mayor I volunteered to be his campaign photographer. It was an exciting campaign I was with him as he traveled across Chicago and won the election. I enjoyed the political and governmental side of photography working for Mayor Washington while he was in office as well as Mayor Eugene Sawyer (1987-89) and Mayor Richard M. Daley (1989-2011).
After leaving government I have concentrated in Documentary photography covering significant and historical events. I have photographed presidential campaigns and also small neighborhood events.
